| Information and Documents required for filing of industrial design application in the Republic of Latvia
- The Applicant's full name and address;
- Title of design;
- Full name and address of author(s);
- Detailed description of design;
- Photos or graphical pictures of design (quantity: 3 photos (graphical pictures) for each view of design. Quantity of views of design depends on the wish of the Applicant, but at least one general view must be provided);
- In case there are variants of design in the application, the description of each version and photos or pictures of variants are also necessary (3 photos or pictures for eeach version);
- If there is a necessity to clarify idea of the external appearance of the article, an ergonomic scheme or a sample of the article may be enclosed (it is not required – only according to the wish of the Applicant);
- Priority date, country and number of the first application, if convention priority is claimed (certified copy of the first application may be supplied within three months after the filing date);
- Certificate of official or officially recognized international exhibition body, if exhibition priority is claimed (may be supplied within 3 months after the filing date);
- In case of claiming the priority based on the corresponding International application, certified copy of this International application must be supplied within three months after the filing date.
The Patent office is entitled to demand Latvian or English translation of the priority documents.
- Power of Attorney (legalization is not required; Power of Attorney should contain name of the Applicant, name and position of the signing person, place and date of signature; Power of Attorney may be supplied within three months after the filing date);
Please note!
The description of design may be in Latvian, English, German, Russian or French languagues. Translation into Latvian language is not required (it may be requested only in court cases).
